Tongala Hay Bale Trail
Born out of community spirit during COVID-19 in 2020, the Tongala Hay Bale Trail began as a safe, family-friendly event to bring joy to locals and visitors alike. Since then, it has grown into an annual tradition, held at Christmas and Easter, featuring a spectacular trail of creatively decorated hay bales.
With designs crafted by local families, businesses, and guest artists, the trail showcases everything from festive Christmas scenes to vibrant Easter creations, turning simple hay bales into works of art. It’s a fun, socially distanced way to explore Tongala while celebrating the creativity and resilience of our community.

On the first Saturday of October, Tongala turns into a treasure hunter’s paradise with our Town-Wide Garage Sale! With over 50 homes taking part each year, locals and visitors alike flock to town to browse, bargain, and buy everything from furniture, antiques, and collectibles to tools, toys, clothes, books, and more.
What started as a small community event has grown into a must-visit day for thrifty shoppers and vintage lovers.
With so many sales in one place, you never know what hidden gems you’ll find! Plus, it’s a great way to meet the locals, explore our town, and enjoy a day of fun and friendly competition for the best deals.
